Cacao Butter Sense-you-all Massage

by The Sacred Earth Medicine Team on February 06, 2024

There’s something so delightful, delicious, decadent, and healing about massaging warm oil into the skin - whether done solo or by a partner! It’s sensual and stimulating whilst also promising to leave you feeling open and deeply rejuvenated. But by using cacao butter with its chocolatey aroma, it really takes the sensual (sense-you-all) massage experience up a notch. If you’re anything like me, it might bliss you right up to heaven!

Cacao Butter as a Generous Lover

I say cacao butter is a generous lover because let’s face it, there’s nothing stingy about cacao. Aside from feeling and smelling super lush, cacao butter also has generous health benefits. Some of these include:

~ Deeply moisturising, super hydrating and nourishing
~ Great for mature and dry skin
~ Full of antioxidants, including vitamin E and C
~ Makes your skin more radiant
~ Soothing
~ Rejuvenating
~ Anti-inflammatory

It’s interesting to note that when melted the oil is golden hued but as it cools it hardens to a creamy coloured solid. My intuition tells me there’s something synergistic about cacao butter and skin by the fact that it melts at body temperature. When you cup some hard cacao buttons & rub them between your hands, this will slowly melt into a soft puddle of liquid gold.

Ready to melt with it yet?

We offer you two Cacao Butter Sensual (Sense-you-all) Massages – one to be done with a partner and one you can lovingly do on your own. So lush up!

Massage Ingredients

  • Cacao butter
  • Essential oils (optional)
  • Optional sweet almond oil/coconut oil* refer to notes below.

Cacao Butter Preparation

  1. Gently melt the cacao butter in a double boiler until it’s just melted. Don’t overheat and check the temperature before use (you want it warm not hot!)
  2. You can use the cacao butter neat (as is), or add your favourite sensual essential oil/s like Rose, Jasmine, Patchouli, Sandalwood or Ylang Ylang.
  3. Keep the melted butter and oil mix in a small jug nestled in a bowl of hot water, so the cacao butter doesn’t solidify.

Sensual Massage with a partner

  • Carve out some time where you don’t feel rushed and won’t be disturbed.
  • If you want, light some candles or turn the lights down low and play some slow, sensual music to start the relaxation process.
  • Decide who will be the receiver first. Begin by both coming into your own body and connecting with the breath, taking some deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth with a sigh or sound. Allow the breath to soften any hard edges and drop you more fully into the present moment.
  • When ready, you may like to start by slowly drizzling the cacao butter over your partner in a teasing and sensual way, letting them enjoy the warm sensation of the oil on the skin.
  • Then gently massage the cacao butter into your partner’s skin, using slow, long, and luxurious strokes. Allow the calming aroma and physical sensations to enhance the overall experience. Trust your intuition here as you play and explore. Follow the lead of your partner as they express through words or sound what feels good, or what they would like. This exotic combination of touch and scent sets the scene for not only deepening the connection between you and your partner, but also for promoting profound relaxation.

Solo Sensual Massage

  • Carve out some time where you don’t feel rushed and won’t be disturbed.
  • Drop into presence by connecting with your breath. Take some deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth with a sigh or sound. Let the breath bring you into your body, let your body soften and surrender… and all that has come before, simply melt away.
  • Take the melted cacao butter and start by gently massaging it into your hand, up the arm and towards the shoulder. Let the movements be soft, slow, and sensual as you really tune in to the sensations you feel, in your arm but also in the rest of your body. Stay present as you continue to massage your body with the butter, letting yourself drop into a of state of bliss and connection. Honouring yourself as the God / Goddess that you are.

*NB: Whilst cacao butter is fantastic for your skin, especially dry or mature skin, if your skin is naturally quite oily however you may prefer to try using a massage oil made from combining a half-half ratio of cacao butter with a lighter oil such as sweet almond oil or coconut oil.

We feel super blessed to have commissioned local ceramic artist Ben Ruble craft our new, exquisite, hand crafted, wild harvested Ceremonial Cacao cups! They come in small and large, and we wholeheartedly believe they are the perfect accompaniment to make your daily ceremonial cacao an even more sacred experience!

Whether known or unknown, our ancestral lineage impacts our lives, and taking time to remember where we have come from can allow us a golden opportunity to understand ourselves better.

At Sacred Earth Medicine is all about honouring the earth, we wanted to share with you some inspiring words that can be spoken in your daily cacao ritual

This recipe evolved from our families pancake Sunday ritual. I discovered it and then became obsessed with the delectable combination of our Ceremonial Cacao, the creamy maca spread maple syrup.
